Thoughts of the Week: September 1, 2023
Stop watching others — focus on your own game instead.
Recently, a friend told me, “I don’t want to be a people watcher — I want to be the one people watch.” This was about not comparing the self to people on social media or other places, but rather doing great things themselves. Becoming their own hero. Embracing this sentiment called for a shift in perspective and a bold approach forward.
Don’t watch others. Watch yourself, and organically others will often find you an inspiration by what you do.
See yourself make big leaps, take unreasonable risks, and unapologetically pursue your goals — to do this *requires* a focus inward, not outward. Climb up your ladder, and just keep climbing. If you continue to move forward, upward, you’ll naturally find that the right people gravitate your way.
Become a trailblazer by seeing yourself as someone forging the path…and keep proving yourself right.
Be Unreasonable. With this edition, you can learn to challenge your perspective and break through the “reasonable” barriers that do nothing but hold you back.
Rework Your Brain for Challenge. Prepare for a “brain read” and shift your mindset to transform intimidating obstacles into challenges to overcome.
Masters of Leverage. Take some time to connect with the gifts you already possess — and learn how to leverage them to your advantage in every aspect of your life.
Why You’re Not Beyond Square One. No matter where you’re at in your career, this is the mindset that will take you to the top.
1. ICYMI — I was recently on “The Learning Leader Show” with Ryan Hawk, where I talked about the importance of being relentlessly resourceful.
2. Too many people resign themselves to being a passenger in their own lives. Don’t let that be you.
