I don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions. It’s delay, distraction, and the delusion that—for some reason—this year will be different from the ones that came before it.
What will make this year different? Ask yourself *that.*
If you want to move the needle in the coming year, commit to having some real, brass-tacks elements you line up to make this year a better, more productive, and successful time ahead where you’ll hit the goals you have.
For some that might mean hiring the right next team member to push the business forward, for others it might mean joining a run club to get yourself committed to a routine you’ll keep or building in accountability.
Words are just words, and that’s all a New Year’s Resolution is…and why people have such an abysmal rate of completion. People treat them as a wish, and change nothing that truly supports the outcomes they want.
Go beyond the words this year…and fill some slots in your calendar now with things that will support an exceptional year ahead.
What are you going to not just say you’ll do, but actually do? What actions are you going to take, what systems are you going to put in place, what solid, actionable plans will you make? What sacrifices are you willing to make to turn those words into reality? Those are what matters this New Year, and every other.
I don’t believe in “New Year’s Resolutions” or wishes...I believe in *actions* and the steps taken to ensure the best shot at what you truly want.
So stop talking. Get out there, and make it happen.
