No matter where you’re at in your business or your career, certain experiences are universal. From balancing ambition and your personal life to placing calculated bets that you hope will pay off, even the largest in their space will face these things time and again — which means learning how to navigate them is always valuable.
This week’s edition of Four Minute Focus involves one of these universal experiences: dealing with difficult personalities in the workplace. Whether that’s a colleague, a direct report, a boss, a vendor, or even a client — it’s something all of us have faced (or will face) at some point, which is why I’d love to tap into the wisdom of our growing community and hear from you:
How do you deal with difficult personalities in your business/career? Is there something unique that you’ve experienced or learned that you would share with others who might be struggling in this area?
I definitely have a perspective - but I’ll be joining you in the comments for this edition of Four Minute Focus, so — if you’re reading this via email — click here to head over to Substack (or download the app) and join the conversation.
Share your thoughts, insights, and experiences with the rest of the Ultra Successful community, and let’s crush this week together.
I keep all my interactions with difficult people surface level and positive. I do my best to not take it personal.
Seems like the answer to this question will vary, significantly, depending on the person. Personally I'm fairly averse to most extroverts and find them difficult to deal with. I'm sure most extroverts would be surprised to read this. Best way to deal with people you perceive to be difficult is to focus on the transaction--the goal you want to achieve by interacting with the person.
