Getting what you want from your work and life requires something most people aren’t comfortable with: force.

I can’t tell you how many of my clients have used this very phrase: “I have to force it.” Sometimes they are forcing a perspective on an industry that they want to lead, forcing something through their company that is going a bit too slow, or using a bit of force around how they connect with those they want to connect with. Making the world and their companies or campaigns move in ways they want. It’s force.
They’re relentless: the person who is resolutely committed to creating this thing in the world, and will never just “take their ball and go home.” They are there to play, and they are there to win.
What I’ve found is that the most successful people will grind hard, yes, but they will also refuse to accept anything less than the outcome they’ve decided they want: a certain career, a revenue number, a level of expansion, or even a certain type of business exit or life. This is an important part of their psyche. They *will* make it happen, often by force. *That* is the separator.
The people at the top? They don’t wait for their dreams to happen. They force them into existence. I’ve sat with these people; I’ve seen them do it, and here’s how you can do it, too. Diverge from the myths you’ve been told, and get far better results.
