Some say if you never define what success is, you’ll never hit your mark…but if we’re honest, you’ll likely move the goal post even when you hit the things you once thought pretty spectacular. Success is a fickle thing, but at least having notions around what it means to you and your career and life, gives you some approximation of where you’re at or if you’re steering in the right direction. Prioritizing the right things, or going in the right direction.
Your notions around success are often more guide posts than goal posts.
Not everyone's vision of success is exactly the same, but you should know if you’re at least on track to get where you want to go.
What is success for you? Whatever it is, be sure it’s something you decided for yourself. That it wasn’t some imaginary rule that you’ve been taught…or something you are trying to live out that isn’t even your own dream. Define a life that you want.
I want you to take this weekend and really look at your own definition of success — the end all be all, the final marker all your work is leading toward — and make sure it actually fits with who you are, and what you truly want. If you find that you're aiming for *someone else’s* notion of success, maybe it’s time to reevaluate and pivot.
Don’t follow someone else’s dreams, find your own and run for them.
I so appreciate these thoughts roundups. Gets my wheels turning for how I can close the week on a high note!
