Thoughts of the Week: January 12, 2024

Next time you’re scrolling on social media, pay attention to the celebrations of success you’re drawn to on your feed. Maybe it’s a post about a company that had a significant exit, an entrepreneur rising fast, or someone landing the promotion of your dreams — I hope you’re happy for them, it gets you excited, and you start to reflect on your own journey.

You are seeing someone’s highlight reel, sure. But take a step back and it is the likely result of a *lot* of work they never posted about, and no one was able to see. The rewards of success look like they happen overnight. They had a journey - and you have yours.  

I hope you don’t just scroll in awe, but use it as fuel to create your outcomes too.

Whatever you are wanting right now in your career - These things don’t just happen. You have to make them happen.

The process is going to be hard. No one will usually be clapping. It’s not inherently “cool” or postable. It’s usually demanding. It’s boring — and it’s often nothing like the image of success you’ll see online.

But if you want to get there, then it starts here.
