Thoughts of the Week: February 9, 2024
The difference in holding confidence vs insecurity is one of focus.
There is a remarkably fine line of focus between the people who are confident and those who are insecure.
The insecure focus on their weaknesses, the unfortunate truths surrounding what they’re not so good at. The confident have those weaknesses too — everyone does — but instead of *only* looking at what they’re bad at, they keep focused on their strengths. They don’t spend a lot of time thinking about weaknesses, or giving them too much weight. They stay focused in on the good - and their actions follow.
Confident people live in a way that highlights what they’re good at, to reinforce that self-confidence. It’s not that they ignore their insecurities — they still work on them and develop them — but they don’t let them constantly exist at the forefront of their minds.
Leaning into this strengths-based versus weakness-based approach is a big part of learning to run through walls. It will help you rise, smash through barriers, and – ultimately – hit the outcomes that most won’t dare to try for.
