Every ambitious person I work with hates being stuck in meetings. They dislike it with the fire of a thousand suns. Why? They are doers; they want to get things done, and they want to get things moving along. They want pace.
But in organizations, small and large, there always lurks a threat that you never see coming: the meeting guy. They can be anyone (man or woman, old or young) and come from anywhere, and if you don’t root them out quickly, they will drag their charge into a mediocre place that doesn’t reward the right things or foster the right culture. They will hold back any progress your department or organization makes…unless you do something about it.
It’s your job to drive progress. The meeting guy drags it.
