Great note Dr Gurner, i think we can use also term ' positive' people when we talk about charismatic behavior. Only thing that i can remember about these people, if they can leave positive feelings after having talk or exchanging ideas. It is normal that sometimes these people hiding emotions but true charismatic person always need to reflect on his/her emotions.

The 48 Laws of Power is a chilling book that can open ones eyes to manipulation techniques. Once you start seeing them more clearly with their names it's a bit disturbing.

48 Laws of Power is a book I'd recommend everyone read. You don't necessary have to use those techniques, but it's great to know and spot them. Astute to bring that one up!

I like that you also point out the potential pitfalls of charisma as well. It made me flash back to a few instances where someone was actively using charisma to sway me in a not so great direction. At the time, the only way I eventually picked up on it was being around the person more often and noticing patterns. But with more experience under my belt, I can usually pick up on it sooner. Not that every charismatic person is bad, like you said, but I think it’s important to be mindful of.

Thank you for underscoring this Taylor. As with every great skill, it can be used for good...or in detrimental ways. Being "heads up" about it is so important. Sounds like, with some experience, you definitely know what to look for and can see where the puck is going. Incredibly valuable.
