Great leaders are master communicators, and when they’re not, they hire those who are to be forward-facing with their people. They understand that influence is one of the most important elements of the job…and you have to be able to connect and communicate even with those who are challenging, skeptical, or uncertain — and get them excited and on board.

When people see what you see handily, everything moves faster with a lot less effort.

I’m sure you’ve likely had those moments of breakthrough — when people see exactly what you wanted them to see. There’s no better feeling than finally watching someone’s eyes light up and you can tell they truly *get* what you’re trying to say. They’re impacted and moved, and in business, that impact turns into tangible action on the ground. It feels like a job well done before you even see what they’re about to do.

Stop convincing people and start showing people what you want them to see

The “aha” moment where others see your perspective is like magic — but figuring out how to land it is hard for a lot of people. I hear these frustrations all the time:

  • “I have said it a thousand times, but they just don’t get it.”

  • “I don’t know what’s wrong with my team, it’s like they didn’t hear me.”

  • “My boss doesn’t seem to understand what I keep saying.”

  • “They don’t see why X concept is so important.”

  • “They ignore my information and keep making bad decisions.”

The communications aren’t landing. You find yourself convincing people instead of them understanding what the message truly is…far earlier. It isn’t about clarity, it’s about framing.

Framing communications is something I’ve worked with a number of clients on and something I’ve seen the best do masterfully. It’s not about diluting the message — it’s about making sure it lands with the force you intend.

The Framing Effect is one of the largest psychological biases in decision-making, and you can make it work for you. We’re going to pull pieces of this to talk about how the best use framing, and give you an easy method to replicate it for yourself to have the impact you want.
