I’ve had a few clients now, doing extremely well, who routinely self-correct the way they speak — and it’s become so notable I thought I’d write about it.
One client, for example, I remember saying, “Top of next year, I hope to get the new product released…No, I will get the new product released at the beginning of the year.”
He would never allow himself to get away with language that reduced his movement forward, slowed himself down, or dampened his progress. Why? Because words matter.
The words you use with yourself and others, like your employees, set the tone for how you think, how you approach your work (and life), and how you engage with others.
