There are a lot of definitions of consistency that tend to float around the internet, and they all revolve around “behaviors.”

“I always show up and do what I say I’m going to do.” -Exec and former client.

The executive above is typical of the common definition and is considered *remarkable* consistency. But in high-level success? This is table stakes. This is what’s *expected.* High-level consistency goes far deeper than that.

Will mediocre consistency get you places? Absolutely. Is it the entire picture? Absolutely not.

High-level consistency is more than showing up every day.

The things we consider to be “exceptional” are sometimes only part of the picture—a glimpse we see of those we might admire. These behaviors are important, sure, but not the keys to the real sauce that makes the magic happen. The drivers of high level consistency are internal, specific, and rarely discussed.
