Most people live their lives on autopilot. Are you falling into the same trap?
Want to level up your focus this weekend?
Pay attention to what’s fueling your distractions. Things like mindless scrolling are often fueled by specific emotional triggers, like stress. The more you understand about your triggers, the more intentional & proactive you can be about staying on task.
Next time you catch yourself going down the rabbit hole, ask yourself a few quick questions:
How are you feeling? Anxious? Stressed? Overwhelmed?
Is this distraction actually helping you address/resolve this emotion?
From there, take proactive steps to support & maintain focus. If you’re reaching for your phone whenever you’re stressed, remind yourself that finishing the thing you’re stressed about is going to improve your stress levels far more than avoiding it. Know you need a break? Be intentional about choosing one that will set you up for success, like a 10-minute walk to reset & refresh versus 10 minutes of doomscrolling.
Remember, the goal here isn’t to eliminate things like using on your phone or watching Netflix. It’s about learning to control your distractions, not letting them control you.
