There’s a heavy burden placed on us to have everything figured out. Whether it’s self-imposed or not, we always want to know exactly, “What’s next”...maybe even years down the line. Work and life just doesn’t always work in exacting ways—but you can, at least, direct it for the likelihoods you want…and when you do that, some magic happens that most never see.
If you ask any ultra-successful person, they set up for the success they want—and because they do that up front, are often surprised with the momentum or opportunities they get along the way. They don’t have the perfect picture of the next years—but they set it up so that:
They control the controllables, so it opens doors and opportunities that they *can’t* control.
This is a true win/win. You give yourself the best shot at luck and serendipity helping you out, when you do your part.
It is absolutely correct to plan, to strategize, and to be directed toward an outcome you want….but what you’ll find, is that if you do this well, there will often be opportunities, outcomes, and doors that you’ll find along the way that you would have never seen years ago—and those will often be some incredible things in your career and life.
You will set up unknown doors of opportunity to open in the future, by what you set up that is known (and controllable) today.
And it is *never* too late to change the path you’re going down.
If you’re not happy with where you are and where you’re going, then you don’t *have* to stay. Change your path if you don’t like it, and be intentional with making it different.
What’s something you can do to forge your own path toward what you really want? Something that will get you excited about work, life, and what you can do?
Don’t wake up in another “boring” day of a life you don’t want. Be fully invested in your journey, strategize and plan, and set up doors for your own future that make you excited to take the journey ahead.
