An unavoidable truth is that: Struggle is inevitable. Becoming good at what you do, whatever you do… requires hard work, a lot of effort, some wins and some hits.
If you’re having one of those moments where you’re taking some hits—know that every big player has had those too. Join the club. The difference is that none of them allowed that hit to define where their story ended.
The story ends when you decide it ends.
The moment you make the decision to strive for something, you’re signing up for the possibility of great things. You just never get your shot at the great things, without a bit of mud on your pants…and it comes in ways sometimes you never expect—you just have to keep going.
You just have to decide to get back up and carry on. Put a kick in your step.
Reframe it and be thankful for the opportunity to even pursue something, and give yourself shots most won’t take.
All those amazing photos you see on the other side of the challenges are the possibilities that are ahead…keep going, focus on the opportunity, and give yourself the shot.
Thank you, Julie, for your words of wisdom. I really feel motivated by your invitation to keep going, and that struggle is inevitable.
And yes, I agree that the amazing photos come after you have pushed through the challenge. Thank you for the reminder.
So often I hear people say, "I don't know what I want in life” which often brings inaction and anxiety. Having no purpose or meaning for the day, for life. Boredom with no goals. Going from one thing to another with no reason. Vitality simply leaking away.
Yet it can feel different. You can look for meaning in what you do, in every interaction, in every gesture. It can all feel precious again.
When you begin to check on where your vitality actually goes each day, something shifts. You start to feel more alive, more present to what matters.
You feel braver to take on the challenges with newfound motivation to keep going as you beautifully said.
And waking each day with zest and vibrant vitality to know what the next step is! And to keep on going, good things are coming.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend, full of light and gentle momentum.
With warmth, Lyndsay
The “reframe it….” Paragraph is super strong for me Tks 🙏🏻 Can I ask one favor DrG? Where in the past posts do you focus on people who should develop more restraint on speaking too much and not cutting off their peers? Holding back but not burst when they’re turn to speak comes. I would love to get a framework for one of my direct reports.
