There is more to effective focus than simply buckling down, honing in, and doing the work. The under-discussed, yet equally as important, aspect of focus is blocking out.
This can be blocking out simple task distractions such as your cell phone or social media. Or, perhaps more importantly, things that distract you when you could be making moves, building, or creating. These distractions can be deadly to your progress. They derail you. They pull you off course.
The social media app you need to delete, the negative people you need to block, the unproductive thoughts you need to halt, the reactive media you need to switch off, the friends who don’t understand your work ethic you can’t feel pressured by. Focusing in requires blocking out…and doing what you have to do.
Build an environment ripe for focus, building, and moving to your goals. Block out anything that won’t help you get there.
I need to do this more !
