One of the most common things I’ve noticed, especially on social media, is the clear disconnect people have between how they *think* things are done and how things are *actually* done by people who are going places.

The reality is that successful people aren’t always going to give away how they’ve gotten to where they’re at. Some might share partial truths, some might only provide glimpses into the “secret sauce,” while others might withhold their journey altogether.

In this week’s edition, I want to look at a few of the myths I see people believing — the “rules” we hear about in viral posts or in the pages of best-selling business books — and share a few of the stories I’ve heard through my own work that exemplify why going against those rules and beliefs can help you rise.

This presents a clear difference in approach that will keep the ambitious person moving forward faster, and there are patterns I see all the time in those who continue to thrive at higher levels of operation…but it starts internally first.

Let me be clear: this will be the opposite of most advice you read, but it’s the truth from someone who has sat with many of the 1%. While some people have to follow the rules, I’m going to encourage you *not* to. It will challenge you, but let’s make it happen and change your mindset a bit.
